in By Anika,Feeling inspired

Hi sweethearts!

In fashion -as well as in life- I take inspiration from everything and everyone around me. I am always ready for the next inspiring moment, be it going for walks enjoying the details of beautiful buildings, or crashing into lightpoles because I got so caught up in the detail of someones outfit that I forget to look where I am walking.

Inspiration is such a beautiful thing, it moves freely and makes life so much richer and more fun. To me inspiration is connected to sensitivity, to really see and be moved, and to then take the moment to the next level by connecting it to something in me and my life. To really be in a moment is one of the happiest experiences I can have, and because I always try to stay open I get to have a lot of these moments.

I had one of those moments as a young girl, seing Flaming June for the first time. I was lost in the painting, the expression of the sleeping girl, the glowing colours, the shape of her thigh, wanting to be her.

Art is one of my greatest inspirations for dressing up.

This is my translation of Flaming June.

The outfit: Orange dress, H&M (reworked by me). Scarf & bangles & ring, H&M. Neckless, Noa Noa. Owl earrings, Gina Tricot.Watch, Ice. Leopard booties, Nilson

Tell me sweethearts, what inspires you?

I would love to connect with you!   @AnikaByAnika   Facebook

Can I call you the Flaming Anika? ;)

This is such a beautiful drawing/painting and I love that you used it for inspiration to piece together your outfit! You look so beautiful and this color is perfect on you.

Oh inspiration. Hmmm…I think I kind of pull from everywhere. My family says I often channel my grandma’s style…she like loads of jewelry too and bold prints and that makes me happy. So maybe something is inspiring me and I’m blissfully unaware. But I love your inspired outfit by this beautiful painting. The soft textures the color is on fire and I love it…wonderful choice.

And I like Jenmarie’s suggestion of calling you Flaming Anika!

Anika, I’m very happy to being able to comment on you lovely blog again!
I get inspired by my moods, by nature colors, art, music, books, comic books, some fashion designers
and my daughters.
The orange dress looks sensational on you!
I love how the dress also matches your gorgeous hair locks!

I love this post. I think your transition to Flaming June is gorgeous.

Like yourself, I have looked at Art before to take inspiration. Now, I will never be a ballet dancer, but the Ballerinas featured by Edgar Degas have always taken my breath away. I have always loved their colour and movement.

You look lovely. x. And I love that you have shared such a gorgeous painting. x.

Oh sweet Em, thank you so much! Everytime I am at yours or am reading a comment from you I am picturing us sitting in a lovely cafe shaing lots of laughs :) . Art makes my life richer in so many ways. I love going to museums on my own, gazing at paintings, really feeling them. Degas is one of my faves too, for the same reasons as you. I have been dancing all of my life, mind, the tutu is as cute looking as it once was lol, but I always feel so touched when I see dance. Hey, do you like to go dancing? We`ve got some great clubs in Oslo! Sending you hugs, love. xx

Anika, this burnt orange is your color! You own it! How I love to read how you derive inspiration for your fashion through art. I too am the lover of art. But then I know few people who don’t derive inspiration from this medium. My son is quite the artist and with every one of his creations, I am given a glimpse into his mind, his creativity, his ability to express himself. How utterly wonderful. Wouldn’t you agree? I love this shade of orange on you and how it’s the perfect complement to your complexion. I also love the hues in your scarf! How perfect for the sunnier weather!

Anika you look beautiful and a very true inspiration from art! The folds of the dress in the painting are clearly depicted in your outfit. Most of all the expression, the feeling, the essence of the painting are seen in you, in your expressive self!

You inspire me, dear. In case you didn’t know.

I love your interpretation of the painting and I love that you were inspired to create your own version of it! It’s such a gorgeous painting, though I doubt I would have had the scope to translate it to fashion. Now I’m inspired to open my eyes a bit wider and see all the possibilities. Thank you for that, lovely Anika!

YOU! I feel like we’re really on the same wavelength, but you are so much better able to articulate it than me! I love taking inspiration from everything I see and infusing my life with little bits of things I’ve seen and experienced from everywhere I’ve been. That’s such a beautiful painting, and your real-life interpretation of it in your outfit is just stunning. I love that colour. It reminds me of a post I did awhile back ( What is this colour even called? It’s divine. I have another OOTD post coming up soon in a different dress that’s this colour, but it’s being used for my Style Correspondent Toronto thingy with Madison Plus, so I’m not posting it until they put up some of the pictures first… You look fantastic as always, and I love your joie d’vie! Keep it up!!!

This is such an eloquently written post. I am inspired by art, music, fashion, pop culture, nature…so many things. But you make a great point: you have to be open to what’s around you, and be in the moment, or you miss so much. That’s one thing about our hypercharged society that I don’t like, and even I can be guilty of it sometimes. We’re over-stimulated, and can rarely be in the moment. Just yesterday I was having a beautiful breakfast on the patio of a local restaurant and it was glorious. Birds chirping, light breeze, perfect weather, lovely company, delicious food. Beside my table was a man who was dining alone, and spent every second looking down at his iPad.While I understand the need to occupy yourself when flying solo, I thought it was such a shame that he never once stopped or looked up to pause and enjoy the day.

I love that painting, the fabric is painted so beautifully! A lot of my inspiration comes from renaissance paintings :)
I really love how thoughtful this post is and how you took inspiration from art for your outfit! That’s definitely one of my favourite colours on you!!

I’m inspired by the usual things, mostly fashion images and often the outfit posts my friends put up on their blogs! I need a lot of images to help me with my work designing dolls, so I’m always collecting photos I like off the net, magazines and catalogues. Personally it’s more random. I’ll just suddenly HAVE to try something. This week it’s a denim skirt I’m making. Next I want to make a dress for a wedding.

Anika would you ever consider a DIY post about your work? I want to know how you reworked these outfits! It’s all so mysterious.
